Membership
Membership Categories
Duwamish Yacht Club offers two primary membership categories. Both are essential to the club’s operation and community.
Voting Members
Voting members are the core of the club’s governance and long-term stewardship.
Voting members:
Hold voting rights in club matters
May serve on the Board of Directors or committees
Participate in governance and policy decisions
May hold exclusive-use moorage rights to a specific slip, subject to club policies
May be eligible for liveaboard status, subject to club policies, availability, and applicable regulations
May sell their membership if they choose
Voting membership reflects a commitment to the club’s long-term success and shared responsibility for its assets.
Associate Members
Associate members participate in the club and may lease moorage, but do not hold voting rights.
Associate members:
May lease moorage directly from the club when available
May lease moorage from a voting member holding exclusive-use rights
Are subject to club bylaws, policies, and marina rules
Are not eligible for liveaboard status
Do not hold voting rights or board eligibility
Associate membership allows individuals to participate in the club and access moorage while maintaining a clear governance structure.
Membership and Moorage
Duwamish Yacht Club owns and maintains all marina infrastructure, including docks and slips. No slips are individually owned as real property.
Moorage opportunities are available only through membership and fall into two general categories:
• Club-leased slips, assigned to associate members when available
• Member exclusive-use slips, where a voting member holds the right to exclusive use and may lease that moorage to an associate member
All moorage arrangements are governed by club bylaws and policies and support the club’s ongoing operations and financial sustainability.
For details, see the Moorage page.
