Moorage
As part of its operations, the club owns and manages a private marina and offers moorage for lease through membership. All slips are owned and maintained by the club; no slips are individually deeded or owned as real property.
How Moorage at DYC Works
Moorage at Duwamish Yacht Club is available only to members and is structured to support both membership participation and the club’s financial sustainability.
There are two primary moorage paths:
1. Club-leased slips assigned to associate members, and
2. Exclusive-use moorage rights held by members which can be leased to associate members if desired
In all cases, individuals leasing moorage must be members of the club and are subject to club bylaws, policies, and marina rules.
Club-Rented Moorage (Associate Members)
The club leases certain slips directly to associate members when available. These slips are not assigned for exclusive use by voting members and represent an important source of operating income for the club.
Key points:
• Slips are owned and managed by the club
• Moorage is leased directly by the club
• Associate membership is required
• No exclusive-use rights are conveyed
• Lease terms support club operations and maintenance
This moorage category allows the club to welcome new members while maintaining financial stability.
Member Exclusive-Use Moorage
All voting members hold the right to exclusive use of a specific slip as well as the right to sell their membership.
Key points:
• The slip remains club-owned
• Exclusive-use rights are governed by club policy
• Members may lease their exclusive-use moorage to others
• Lessees must become associate members
• All arrangements remain subject to club oversight
This structure provides flexibility to members while preserving consistent marina standards.
